19th Century French Patinated Bronze Cherub Composition Signed Raphael Ch. Peyre

Decorate an office or study with this elegant antique bronze composition of children playing with flowers. Crafted in France circa 1895 and built of bronze, the cheerful composition depicts three playful cherubs, one distracting the other with a bouquet of flowers while the third cherub is taking a bouquet of flowers out of a weaved basket. The cherubs have wonderful expressions on their faces. The large artwork is signed by the French artist, R. Ch. Peyre on the front lower right of the oval base. The heavy putti composition is in excellent condition and adorns a rich two-tone patinated finish. Weight 65 pounds. Charles Raphael Peyre ( 1872-1949 ) was a Parisian sculptor born on June 1st. 1872 and was a student of Alexandre Falguiere, Antonin Mercié and Th. Barrau, three of the leading sculptors of the 19th century. Peyre showed his works in prestigious art shows including at the Paris Salon of which he was a member from 1900, and where he received honorable mentions in 1894, a 3rd place finish in 1902, a 2nd place in 1903, and numerous other awards.
