Mid-Century Swiss Automaton Brass Cage with Moving and Singing Bird
$2,200
About
Bring life to your house with this colorful vintage birdcage. Attributed to Reuge Music in Switzerland, and built circa 1960, the cage is cylindrical in shape and sits on a painted wooden base decorated with hand painted floral and leaf motifs; the cage is topped with a rounded dome ending with a ring for easy hanging. Inside the gilded cage, there is miniature automaton bird sited on a branch decorated with foliage. The colorful green, red and yellow bird is realistic with its life-like colors and feathered texture. When you activate the on-off switch and wind the underside key, the bird move its head and beak while singing in harmony. The piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a richly patinated brass finish throughout. Let us know if you want a video of the bird singing and we can get it to you :) Measures: 7″ diameter 13″ height.
