Almost 5 feet tall, this important antique gilt mirror is a one of a kind! Crafted in Paris, France circa 1870, the tall mirror with arched and serpentine top is decorated at the pediment with a large hand carved blason cartouche featuring acanthus leaf and shell motifs in high relief, and embellished with foliage decor on both sides. The thick frame with a discrete engraved floral embellishment is further dressed with beads motif around the glass, and dressed with decorative acanthus leaves in the bottom corners. The large Louis XV mirror is in excellent condition with the original mercury glass, wood backing, and adorns the original rich gold leaf finish. Place this elegant and heavily carved mirror over a buffet in a dining room, a console in an entry or simply, over a mantel in a living room. Measures: 35″ W x 57″ H.
