Decorate a table or a shelf with this beautiful antique gilt “Reliquaire” mirror. (Reliquary in English). Crafted in Italy circa 1780, the religious item stands on a tripod base ending with round feet and decorated with a sun motif on the facade. The top features the traditional Louis XVI carved and pierced ribbon at the pediment and flanked with acanthus leaves on both sides; the center is dressed with the original oval mercury glass embellished with beads motifs around the frame. The elegant reliquary is in excellent condition and adorns the original gold leaf finish. In the Catholic customs, a reliquary is a container or a special space in which sacred relics, or holy objects, were kept. A wonderful decorative object! Measures: 12″ W x 19″ H.
