19th Century French Carved Parquet Oak and Walnut Monastery Trestle Table
$13,000
About
This large 8 feet long antique dining table was crafted in southwest France circa 1860. Built with antique and reclaimed old timbers of oak, the extremely authentic heavy table stands on an elegant trestle base from latter addition, supported with hand carved Montferrer style legs ending with molded shoe base, decorative diamond shaped iron nails, and connected with a thick bottom stretcher which gives the table a sturdy, monastery look. The wide and thick tabletop features an elegant frame work made of oak with parquet pattern throughout; the surface is further embellished with large forged nails in each corner. From the structure to the finish, this heavy refectory farm table is in excellent condition and adorns a stylish, rich walnut patina with exquisite and wonderful distress. The long table would sit 8 to 12 people; a wonderful size for a large breakfast room or dining room.
