The colorful artwork is in excellent condition with rich colors. The decorative plate is signed on the underside by the artist, Christine Viennet, France, for further authentication. Wooden stand included. Christine Viennet is an artist born in Norway in 1947. She studied at the Oslo school of art, then apprenticed for two Norwegian artists, Rolf Hansen and Bente von Krogh. Between 1965 and 1971, she worked with Father Paoli at the Abbey of Saint Michel de Cuxa and at ateliers of Lurçat and Picart Le Doux in Perpignan, France. Influenced by Bernard Palissy, the famous French naturalistic Renaissance ceramicist, Viennet creates with exuberance, vases, plates and sculptures… enlivened with wild life, aquatic fauna and flora, in both a realistic and an imaginary way. Her Studio, and Museum presenting European Ceramics from the 16th to the 21st century with a large collection of Palissy ware (founded in 1990), are located at the Château de Raissac, near Béziers, southern France, where Christine still resides today. 9″ Diameter
