About
This elegant antique chest of drawers was crafted in Lyon, France, circa 1760. Built of elm and chestnut wood, the large fruitwood bombe “Commode Lyonnaise” stands on short cabriole legs ending on whorl feet. The scalloped apron adding to the graceful aesthetic, is decorated in the center with a hand carved inverted shell motif. The cabinet features three large serpentine drawers across the front, decorated with hand carved ornate Rococo-inspired foliate scroll motifs, and embellished with the original intricate bronze handles and matching escutcheons. Both sides are decorated with recessed panels and the surface has a shaped top. The Louis XV commode is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich light walnut patina. Place this commode in a living room, bedroom or along an empty wall for extra storage and surface space. Two keys included. Measures: 52″ W x 25.75″ D x 39.75″ H.
