Display your rifle or shotgun collection in this beautifully carved, antique gun cabinet. Created in France, circa 1880, the important two-piece buffet with spline side columns, sits on square feet over a thick straight bottom plinth. The upper section decorated with quail birds in the corners, features a stag head in the center and flanked with carved vine motifs on both sides. The buffet with panel, and original glass doors, is embellished with side carved figures in high relief of fisherman holding fish, and herald musician in traditional medieval style outfit; when opened, the inside displays up to 9 guns in the upright position with slots for each stock and barrel. The bottom section has two drawers across the front decorated with carved dog head figure handles. Each door panel with center medallions, is decorated with hand carved fox and rabbit sculptures in high relief amidst lush vegetation, including foliage and reed motifs. The inside reveals a middle shelf for additional storage. The tall gun cabinet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich light bleached oak finish, and exquisite Renaissance themes combined with hunt motifs.
