Decorate a kitchen counter or display a shelf with this elegant pair of antique Majolica vases. Crafted in Montigny sur Loing, France circa 1860, each ornate vase sits on a patinated blackened brass base with scrolled feet and intricate pierced decor, and features colorful hand painted flowers and leaves sculpted in high relief. Each urn-shaped vessel adorned with detailed, realistic floral motifs, primarily large, delicate roses in pink, yellow and orange hues, along with light green leaves. The glossy finish on the flowers gives them a lifelike appearance and the body of the vase is light beige or cream in color, with a subtle texture. The top of the vase is dressed with a decorative patinated brass rim resembling a crown. The overall style is ornate and classic, combining naturalistic elements with a formal structure. The ceramic barbotine vases are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn rich colors. Markings on the bottom for further authentication. Measures: 10″ W x 8″ D x 13.75″ H.
