Pair of 19th Century French Louis XV Mahogany, Bronze and Leather Desk Armchairs
$2,900
About
Decorate a study or office with this elegant pair of antique armchairs with gilded ormolu mounts. Crafted in Paris, France circa 1850, and built of mahogany wood, each chair stands on cabriole legs decorated with bronze leaf motifs at the shoulders, and ending with bronze dore claw feet. The bombe apron is embellished with a bronze foliate mount in the center. The chair features an arched and curved backrest embellished with a bronze shell and foliage mount at the pediment; each seat is further dressed with carved open armrests decorated with bronze acanthus leaves. Both comfortable seats, armrests and backs are upholstered with the original patinated padded black leather. The Louis XV style desk armchairs are in fair condition commensurate with age and use and adorn a rich and warm patina. The mahogany wood displays a polished finish, highlighting its natural grain and warm tones, while the gilded accents provide an exquisite contrast. Some pealing on the leather surface, no rips or tears on fabric underneath, see detailed images. Measures: 26″ W x 22″ D x 39″ H.
