19th Century French Oak, Iron and Leather Blacksmith Bellows Coffee Table
$2,200
About
Decorate a ranch or a country living room with this unusual antique blacksmith’s bellows coffee table. Crafted in France circa 1880 and shaped as a heart, the table stands on three carved angled and tapered octagonal legs. The rustic piece features the original accordion brown leather strapping around the top, a cone shaped iron devise blowing air at one extremity, and the pulling handle at the other end; it is further embellished with decorative nails all around. The coffee table is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina and beautiful patinated leather. A useful piece, but also a true conversation starter! (A bellows is a device constructed to furnish a strong blast of air forcing a stream when the cavity is compressed. It had many applications for blacksmiths shops, in particular blowing on a fire to supply it with air, and made it easier to bend the metal). Measures: 60″ W x 31.5″ D x 21.5 H.
