Decorate an office or a study with this elegant antique globe. Crafted in Indianapolis, Indiana circa 1946, the collectible piece sits on a bronze painted cast iron tripod base decorated with paw feet; it features a brass half meridian. The stem holds a 12″ swivel globe which is signed Cram Universal, made by George Cram and Co., Indianapolis, Indiana. Displaying the world as it was around the end of WW2, this globe does not show Israel, which tells you it was made before 1948. Furthermore, it shows Tanganyika (instead of Tanzania), which tells you it was made between 1946 and 1961. A beautiful piece of world history that is sure to inspire any traveler. The terrestrial globe is in very good condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns wonderful patinated colors. Some small paper lost spots. Founded in 1869, the George F. Cram company has outlived almost all other 19th century map publishers to remain a major name in the industry today. The George F. Cram Company began manufacturing globes in 1932.
