Decorate a den or game room with this elegant antique tribal bench. Hand carved in western Africa, and attributed to the Senufo tribe, the bench is naturally curved and stands on two carved legs. The seat is made of one single piece of indigenous hardwood. This kind of benches were originally used as seating for important figures or as a symbol of status and authority; they are considered a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of the Senufo people and are admired for their beauty, simplicity, and functionality. The Senufo consist of diverse subgroups living in a region spanning the northern Ivory Coast, southeastern Mali and western Burkina Faso. This utilitarian and sculptural seating is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina with wonderful natural distress.
