Accessorize a man’s office or desk with this elegant antique bronze bird composition. Crafted in France circa 1895, the avian sculpture features a pheasant standing on rocky ground covered with wheat stems; the artwork is signed on the base by French artist, Ferdinand Pautrot. The bird is in crouched position with its back left foot raising up as if it is starting to run. The bird figure is in excellent condition, commensurate with age and use, and adorns a beautiful and rich patinated bronze finish. Ferdinand Pautrot (1832-1874) was born in Poitiers in 1832. A talented and respected animalier sculptor, Pautrot began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1861 and continued through 1870. His art focused on animal and hunt scenes, especially dogs, rabbits and birds. Listed in the Benezit. 11″W x 7″D x 6″H
