About
This elegant antique “Commode Sauteuse” was carved in Burgundy, France circa 1780. The fruitwood commode stands on cabriole legs ending with escargot feet over a scalloped apron decorated with a central hand carved motif; the cabinet features two carved drawers across the front dressed with the original bronze handles and matching escutcheons, both embellished with floral and vine motifs. The sides are decorated with rectangular recessed panels. The piece plainly shows its age with original peg joints and dovetail bindings in the drawers. The large chest of drawers is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina. Place this commode in a living room, dining room or along an empty wall for extra storage and surface space. Inside drawers restored. Measures: 51.25″ W x 25″ D x 34.5″ H.
