18th Century French Louis XV Carved Walnut Armoire from Lyon

This important grand “Armoire Lyonnaise” was carved in Lyon, France circa 1760. The tall antique fruit wood cabinet stands on bun feet over a straight plinth base; it features an elegant double bonnet top at the pediment with an exquisite, carved shell motif in the center embellished with a carved cherub in high relief, and flanked with floral decor on both sides. It has two central doors with raised panels decorated with hand carved flowers; when opens, it reveals all original inside shelving and drawers for plentiful of storage. This true museum wardrobe has the original lock, key and cremaillere. The armoire is in excellent condition commensurate with age and adorns a deep and rich walnut patina. Place this large and wide cabinet in a family room to hold blankets or use it as an entertainment center; it will host a 65″ flat screen TV.
