About
This elegant antique “Commode Sauteuse” was crafted in southern France, circa 1780. The fruitwood chest stands on cabriole legs decorated with acanthus leaf motifs at the shoulder over bronze mounts feet. The cabinet features two rows of drawers (side by side drawers at the top over a large drawer underneath), both embellished with ornate bronze handles and matching escutcheons. The cabinet has a scalloped apron decorated with a carved floral and foliage motif in the center, and both sides are dressed with raised panels. The chest of drawers is in excellent condition and adorns a rich walnut patina; versatile, it could be used as console in an entry, a large bedside table in a master bedroom, or converted into a vanity cabinet in a powder room. 43.5″W x 21.5″D x 32.5″H.
