About
Decorate a wet bar with this charming, sculptural Majolica pitcher; crafted in Nimy Les Mons, Belgium circa 1890, the antique, barbotine jug similar to the one of Onnaing, features a smiling sailor with his hands holding his pants in a defiant pose. The body and handle are hand painted in a brown palette, and the inside has a traditional pink tone. The sculpted ceramic is stamped on the bottom for additional authentication. The colorful, painterly pitcher is in excellent condition from the sculpted texture to the wonderful colors. Nimy Les Mons is a Belgian faiencerie created in 1789 by Dieudonne-Joseph Antoine. (Same pitcher in the reference book by Maryse Bottero “Pichets en barbotine”, page 122). See last pictures. Measures: 7″ W x 6.5″ D x 10.5″ H.
