$1,500
About
Set in the original carved giltwood frame, the painting was created in France, circa 1880. The peaceful painting on board depicts a pastoral scene with two cows resting under a tree, and one standing, with a farmhouse in the background. The artwork is not signed but reminds us of French artist C. Quinton. The painting is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns rich colors and wonderful details. Clement Henri Quinton (1851-1924), also known as Charles Henri Quinton, was a French artist born in Paris in 1851; he was in the Paris Salon starting in 1879, then at the Salon des Artistes Francais. He won a third price in 1890 and a second price in 1892. He mainly painted in the Limousin, the French Pyrenees and in Brittany. His landscapes are usually animated with shepherds, farmers and flocks. Measures: 13.25″ W x 11.5″ H.
