Decorate a study or a den with this colorful antique dog painting. Set in the original carved gilt wood frame, this large painting was created in France circa 1880; the subject composition painted on canvas, depicts two Braques Saint Germain dogs drinking in a pond. The art work is signed on the bottom right corner by the artist, M. Guillebert. The painting is in excellent condition commensurate with wonderful details and rich colors. A wonderful and elegant addition to a ranch or hunting lodge! Maurice Guillebert (1876-1933) was a French artist born in 1876. He was known for his hunt dogs paintings especially the Braque Saint-Germain (translated into English as the St. Germain Pointing Dog). The Braque is a medium-large breed of dog, a versatile hunter used for hunting as a gun dog and pointer as well as for hunting other small game. Braque is a term meaning pointing dogs. The breed was created around 1830 by crossing English and French pointing type dogs. Measures: 28″ W x 21.75″ H.
