This large hand painted antique vase was created in France circa 1865, made of Majolica, the colorful vase depicts a hand painted scene with rooster and chicken and embellished with floral motifs at the pediment and both sides. The elegant porcelain vase is stamped on the bottom T. L. for Theodore LeFront, the artist. The flower vessel is in excellent condition with rich colors. Theodore LeFront (1835-1893) was a 19th century French artist; he began working with faience and porcelain in a workshop in Montigny sur Loing, near Fontainebleau in 1860. He had several apprenticeships with various other porcelain ateliers until opening his own in 1872. Numerous exposition medals were awarded LeFront between 1866 and 1884 for his pieces. Measures: 8″ diameter 14″ height.
