19th Century French Hand Painted Faience Jardinière from Normandy

Crafted in Rouen, France circa 1890, and oval in shape, the antique planter stands on scrolled feet over a scalloped apron; it features elegant side handles, a pierced rim around the top embellished with shell motifs and carved decorative acanthus leaf decor in each corner. The detailed, ornate flower pot features hand painted medallions with sail boats on both sides with accompanying foliage. The faience centerpiece is in excellent condition with rich colors in a blue, yellow, red and green palette. Decorate a mantel or a dining room with this large and colorful antique jardinière. Marking on the bottom. Measures: 15.5″ W x 7″ D x 7″ H.
