About
Decorate a dining or living room with this elegant and colorful vintage screen. Crafted in France circa 1880, the art work depicted on the folding screen is a lush still-life composition, featuring an opulent display of flowers and fruit in a garden or terrace setting. The central focus is a large bouquet of vibrant flowers, including roses and peonies, arranged in a terracotta vase. Surrounding the vase are various fruits, such as peaches and melons, casually placed on the ground. To the right, another large terracotta pot holds a bush of white flowers, while a large, overturned ceramic jug rests beside it. To the left is a small fountain with water cascading out which adds more complexity to the scene. The background shows a stone balustrade partially covered by the dense foliage, adding depth to the composition. The scene evokes a sense of natural beauty, richness, and tranquility, typical of the still-life tradition. The hand painted folding screen is further embellished with a tan leather trim secured with brass nail heads. The home decor is in excellent condition commensurate with age with a crackled paint finish in rich vibrant colors in a beige, green and white palette. singned in lower right corner by. G. Wuoduśgue. Each panel is 16″W. Measures: 64″ W x 67.5″ H.
