Decorate an entry, study or office with this elegant antique jelly cabinet with carved rooster. Crafted in France, circa 1870 and built of oak, the small buffet stands on a recessed molded plinth base over bun feet. The “Confiturier” ( French for jelly cabinet ) features barley twist columns on both sides and decorated with floral rosette medallions at the shoulders. The cabinet is dressed with a large drawer across the front embellished with carved foliage and acorn decor and decorated with a wooden pull, over a single door decorated with a hand carved “Coq Gaulois” (or rooster, symbol of France) and reed motifs in high relief. The inside reveals a middle shelf for ultimate storage. The wooden surface has recessed corners and carved edges. The Louis XIII style cabinet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. and adorns a rich light oak patina. Versatile, the cabinet could also be used as a vanity in a powder room with the addition of a sink, and the removal of the feet. Key included. Measures: 33.5″ W x 24″ D x 38.5″ H.
