Dress a mantel with this elegant antique carved gilt mirror. Crafted in France circa 1860, and over 5 feet tall, the large mirror with arched and serpentine top is decorated with a hand carved pierced shell cartouche in high relief at the pediment, and embellished with foliage motifs on both sides. The thick frame with geometric decor throughout is further dressed with beaded trim around the glass, and embellished with decorative acanthus leaves at the bottom corners. The Louis XV style mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich patinated gold leaf finish. Versatile, this elegant and heavily carved mirror could also be placed over a buffet in a dining room, a console in an entry or in a powder room. Weight 70 pounds. Measures: 47″ W x 62″ H.
