About
This elegant antique fruitwood desk was created in the Poitou region of France, circa 1890. Made of wild cherry timber, the large writing table sits on four cabriole legs decorated with acanthus leaves at the shoulder, over a decorative scalloped apron. The front has a wide and tall opening with plenty of knee space, and features four drawers dressed with irons pulls. Both back and sides are heavily carved with floral, shell and foliage motifs. The surface is dressed with a tan leather top embellished with embossed gilt tooling throughout. The writing table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich, light walnut patina. This Classic, Louis XV style desk would make a beautiful statement placed in the middle of a study or library. Measures: 64.5″ W x 28.75″ D x 31.25″ H.
