About
Decorate a man’s office or a library shelf with this elegant bronze sculpture. Crafted in France circa 1895, this antique sculpture depicts a finely detailed figure of a Napoleonic-era military officer, captured in a strikingly confident pose. The figure, dressed in a formal military uniform with a tall bicorne hat and intricate jacket, exudes authority and command. His hand gestures suggest a moment of instruction or speech, while his posture conveys self-assurance. The artwork is signed on the base by the French sculptor Edouard Lormier. Lormier’s skillful attention to anatomical proportions and clothing detail reflects the high craftsmanship typical of French bronzes from this period. The tall figure is in excellent condition, with wonderful details, and adorns a rich patinated bronze finish; mounted on a black and grey marble base, it complements the sculpture’s rich patina. Weight 46 pounds. Edouard Lormier (1847-1919), was a French sculptor; born in Saint Omer, (Pas de Calais), he was the son of Auguste Lormier and Madeleine Peschots. Student of Francois Jouffroy, he made his debuts at the Paris salon in 1886. He died in Paris in 1919. 10″W x 9.5″D x 27″H
