Crafted in the Burgundy region of France circa 1870 and built of cherry wood, the antique table features an oval tilt-top surface over a wedge trestle base and pivoting lyre shape support; for out of the way storage, fold the top in a vertical configuration. The large Provincial table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina. This Classic find would make a sophisticated, historically relevant addition to a wine cellar, or could be used as a wonderful breakfast table. Popular in the wine growing regions of France, this kind of table was used each year in all the wineries as connoisseurs tasted the new vintage. In traditional form, these wine tasting tables were covered with a plastic table cloths, and then cheese and wine were served. Measures: 47.25″ W x 39″ D x 28.75″ H.
