This elegant paper binding press was forged in France, circa 1870. The Classic “Presse a Relier” made of solid iron is almost square in shape with scalloped edges, and features scrolled motifs on the facade, and the top is connected to the manual screw controlled by a wide top double-handle. This heavy tool is in excellent working order, and adorns a rich patinated gun barrel painted finish with gilt accents. Decorate a shelf in a study or library with this wonderful accessory! In the old days, this kind of “Presses a Papier” were used to press the book’s sheets together before receiving a bookbinding. Measures: 14.5″ W x 13.5″ D x 14″ H.
