20th Century French Louis XV Carved Burl Wood Grandfather Clock from Lyon Region

Crafted near Lyon, France, circa 1980 and built of burl wood, the vintage tall “Horloge Bressane” (Bressan is a region neat the city of Lyon), stands on curved feet over a scalloped apron; the time keeper features beautiful lines including a bonnet top over a violin shape body. The movement face, is decorated with repousse motifs of wheat and grapes and further embellished with the King Sun. The mechanism has been cleaned and checked out, and is in excellent working order keeping time and striking on the hour and half hour. The elegant grandfather clock is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina. Weights, pendulum and winding key included. The clock has the following words inside the door: “Copie du Musee de Brou a Bourg”, and is dated 1981. (See pictures) Measures: 16.5″W x 11″D x 94″H.
