Bring the French countryside into your home with this large patinated bronze bell from the Alps region of France, dated 1900, the antique bell features several motifs in relief including garland decor around the top, flower and crest motifs. The piece has the original brown leather strap with buckle. These kind of bells had various distinctive sounds and were used to locate cattle in the pasture. Cows or sheep would wear them around their neck so owners or shepherds could easily recognize their herd no matter the distance. Excellent condition with rich patinated bronze finish. Measures: 9.5″ diameter 8.5″ height.
