This beautiful antique fruitwood panetiere was carved in Provence circa 1830. In the 18th century in the south of France, a panetiere (or bread box in English), was used as a practical wall cabinet in which homemade bread was stored. This decorative, embellished cabinet has an arched top with a crown of ten finials, turned spindles on three sides, and a carved bow central door with its original key. The bottom of the cabinet has delicate scrolled feet so it can sit on a table or kitchen counter. Excellent condition with rich walnut patina. measures: 33″ W x 17″ D x 42″ H. SKU: 112-203
