About
This antique needlepoint tapestry was hand woven in France, circa 1920. Rectangular in shape, the colorful wall decor depicts a large central medallion framed by curling acanthus leaves, floral embellishments, and ornamental flourishes in warm hues of gold, cream, and blue. At the top, exotic parrots, perch among lush floral arrangements. Below, a lavish still-life arrangement overflows with fruits such as grapes, peaches, and apples, all set in an ornate basket. Two playful squirrels engage with the fruit display, enhancing the tapestry’s lively charm. The tapestry is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns rich colors in the beige, cream, blue, and peach palette. The illustrative tapestry would make an impressive addition to a large wall in a living room, entryway or staircase. Measures: 35″W x 80″H
