Late 17th Century Spanish Carved Painted, Polychrome and Gilt Wall Mirror
$9,800
About
Crafted in 17th century Spain circa 1670, or probably coming from a private chapel, the interesting mirror features six carved cherub head figures around the recessed frame, and embellished with high relief motifs in the corners including gargoyle, angel, grotesque and eagle sculptures. The octagonal mirror has the original mercury glass behind the original wood backing; the glass has visible wear spots which give lots of character to the very ancient piece. The Gothic mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use with the original patinated polychrome and green finish with gilt accents around the frame. Place this old antique mirror under a console in an entry, or under a buffet in a dining room. Very heavy!
Measures: 42″ W x 10″ D x 64″ H.
