Mid-18th Century French Louis XV Carved Walnut Two-Door “Armoire Lyonnaise”
$16,000
About
This elegant, antique fruitwood “Armoire Lyonnaise” was carved in France, circa 1760. The tall, impressive cabinet sits on escargot feet over the scalloped apron. The piece is dressed with a bonnet cornice top over a pierced cartouche center decor in the form of laurel wreath with floral and carved tree branch motifs and leaves on both sides. The two arched doors with raised panels are heavily carved with foliage decor; opening the doors, it reveals inside shelving converted as TV shelf. The inside is further dressed with red fabric upholstery. The grand Louis XV armoire is in good condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a beautiful and rich walnut patina throughout. Furthermore, the armoire features the original large lock mechanism with massive key, and the original wrought iron cremaillere lock system on the left door. Bottom left corner of the right door has slight warping. Measures: 70.25″ W x 28″ D x 104″ H
