About
Place this colorful antique coffer at the foot of a king size bed to store your extra blankets! Crafted in Italy, circa 1760, the rectangular cabinet sits on front paw feet over a bottom straight plinth; it features elegant carved panels on the front, top and sides. The ornately decorated storage piece is beautifully painted with a highly detailed Renaissance scene. It features several groups of both men and women talking, farming, riding in a wagon pulled by two white horses, or lifting water out of a well with multiple estates in the back ground that are comfortably settled into a landscape of rolling hills. The top of the lid is decorated with vine motifs with a red eagle crest in the center, and a coat of arms of South Tyrol, Italy. This long trunk can double as extra storage and seating, a coffee table, or a beautiful piece to ornament a wall or hallway. The decorative cassone is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorns wonderful and rich gilt and polychrome colors throughout; a true museum quality piece. Measures: 70″ W x 21.75″ D x 23.5″ H.
