Mid-19th Century Italian Carved Giltwood Candlestick with Inset Mirrored Panels
$1,200
About
This elegant antique gilt candlestick was created in Italy circa 1850. Over 3 feet in height, and standing on three clawed feet over a triangular carved base embellished with acanthus leaf motifs, the tall candlestick features an elaborate column structure adorned with ornate carvings, including small inset mirrors panels throughout. The pedestal features a top circular platform with a decorative metal plate designed to hold a candle. The important Neoclassical candle holder is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich gold leaf finish. The Baroque “Pic-Cierge” could also easily be converted into a classy floor lamp. It would make a striking accent in a formal or traditional interior setting, potentially as a standalone statement piece or part of a larger decorative arrangement. Its aesthetic blends opulence and old-world charm, making it a collectible or valuable decorative object. Measures: 11″W x 11″D x 38.5″H.
