Mid-20th Century French Tortoiseshell and Bronze Boulle Mantel Clock with Base

This important, vintage Boulle mantel clock and matching base were created in France, circa 1950. The clock features an arched pediment surmounted with a gilt bronze cherub playing the trumpet. The red tortoiseshell and brass inlaid case is outlined in gilt brass; the centre clock face is further embellished with blue enamel and brass Roman dial and winding holes. The tall clock is in excellent working order with opulent ormolu decor. The pendulum, door key and winding key included for easy use. This clock would make an excellent addition to a formal living room or study due to its traditional, elegant presence.
