About
This elegant antique side table was crafted in France circa 1950. Rectangular in shape and attributed to Maison Jansen in Paris, the delicate brass table stands on round and spline legs ending with bun feet at the base, and dressed with decorative finials at the top. The table features a bottom shelf and a top shelf both with inset tainted glass. The side table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich patinated brass finish. Use it as a occasional end table next to a chair to hold a lamp, a book or a drink! Maison Jansen is a Paris-based interior decoration office founded in 1880 by Dutch-born Jean-Henri Jansen. Jansen is considered the first truly global design firm, serving clients in France, Europe, Latin America, North America and the Middle East. Renowned for lavish, gilt-encrusted furniture that harks back to early French design and sleek, metallic-forward pieces that capitalize on Regency-era trends, Maison Jansen created some of the world’s most coveted furniture. At its height, Maison Jansen was also an international interior design powerhouse that employed dozens of designers. Yet it all began humbly enough with one man: Jean-Henri Jansen. Jean-Henri was in his twenties when he founded House of Jansen; while mystery shrouds much of Jansen’s early life, it’s known that he was incredibly well-connected and was trained under several prestigious apprenticeships. Without question, Jansen was also ambitious and tremendously talented. 15.5″W x 12.5″D x 24″H
