This carved antique fruitwood grotto stool was created in France, circa 1950. Perfect as a piano stool or simply a statement piece, the bench, built of chestnut wood, stands on cabriole legs joined with bottom stretcher, and ending in animal paws decorated with acanthus leaf motifs. The seat has a “rocaille” or shell-shaped motif over an adjustable swivel mechanism for comfortable seating. The piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich light walnut patina. Measure: The seat can be raised anywhere from 19″ to 21″. Measures: 17″ W x 17.5″ D x 23″ H.
