Mid-Century Swiss Bronze Cow Bell Historical Memorabilia “First Men on the Moon”
$1,600
About
A historical memorabilia remembering “One Giant Leap for Mankind”! Crafted in Switzerland circa 1970, the elegant bronze bell features several motifs in relief including cows and laurel leaf decor in the center and embellished with the Swiss emblem. The bell is further embellished with the names of the first astronauts who step on the moon: it reads; “Armstrong, Aldrin, Sur la Lune le 20 juillet 1969”. The bell has the original brown leather strap with iron buckle. These kind of bells had various distinctive sounds and were used to locate cattle in the pasture. Cows or sheep would wear them around their neck so owners or shepherds could easily recognize their herd no matter the distance. The bell is in excellent condition with a rich patinated bronze finish. Signed Albertano, Fondeur La Sarraz. Measures: 9.5″ diameter.
