Pair of 19th Century French Painted Cobalt Blue Glass & Brass Table Oil Lamps
$1,400
About
These elegant antique oil lamps were crafted in France, circa 1870. The “Lampes a Petrole”, converted into table lamps, sit on ornate round brass bases, and feature the original flame regulator mechanism including the off and on turning key at the pediment. The flame regulator mechanism, was originally used to adjust the height of the wick, allowing precise control over the flame size and light intensity. Each cobalt blue glass stem is decorated with hand painted gilt grape, vine and leaf motifs. Both colorful Napoleon III fixtures have two lights with on and off switches; they are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorn wonderful rich colors. Place these oil lamps on bedside tables or nightstands, or use them in a wine cellar on a console or buffet. Shades and finials not included. Measures: 5.5″ diameter 21″ height.
