Pair of Mid-19th Century French Carved Iron Shell-Form Stoups Vide-Poches
$975
About
These exquisite antique stoups from Southern France would make a lovely addition to any powder room to hold soaps or small hand towels. Carved in France circa 1860, each shell shaped dish was originally carved to be a religious basin.; in its original placement, this stoup was inserted in the wall and was used to hold the holy water at the entrance of the catholic church. Both pieces are in excellent condition and adorn a rich, aged black patinated finish. Repurpose these small pieces as soap holders or use them as vide-poches. Could be sold separately. Measures: 10″ W x 10″ D x 2″ H.
