Pair of Mid-Century French Carved and Painted Two-Light Lyre Wall Sconces
$1,600
About
Enhance the ambiance of a hallway or powder room with this exquisite pair of colorful antique sconces. Crafted in France circa 1970, each two-light sconce draws inspiration from the classical lyre, a symbol closely tied to music and art. The design beautifully merges neoclassical and rococo influences, featuring elegant scrolling arms and intricate floral details framing the central lyre motif, while a central shell cartouche connects both sides of the lyre. Each light with two curved arms is newly wired, and dressed with decorative candle sleeve covers. The Louis XVI style fixtures are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a rich hand painted distressed finish in a soft green, yellow, white, and red palette; the pastel hues are accented with gilt accents, adding a charming antique patina. Measures: 13.75″W x 5″D x 14″H.
